Since I am choosing the major life sciences or biological sciences, my two related careers are either veterinarian or a zoologist. Veterinarians treat or take care of sick and injured animals. They do perform surgery and give medicine to animals. Although most veterinarians treat small animals (dogs, cats, fish) there are others who treat large animals (sheep’s, cows, horses) and those who treat large animals has to drive to the destination for the animal's check-up. They check to see the animals status by taking blood tests or x-rays. They need to look carefully in the way how animals look, act, and smell for it tells them if the animal is sick, injured, or malfunction. Upon seeing the video, there is one veterinarian he did not
actually even considered to be one until he was in undergraduate school. As a young kid he was really fascinated with animals and surgery, but wasn't too interested in interacting/dealing with people, along with human medicine. Yet, as he got older, he takes all those things and started to realize that he can do surgery on animals and treat them for a living. He knew what he wants to do and where he wants to go which is veterinary medicine and veterinary school. Being an veterinarian requires a lot of dedication, time, and studying. In fact, to get into veterinary schools, it does require students to have good grades. The best part in this career is the rewards you get by making a difference for animals and families due to the fact that you’re changing a situation and solving it, making both the animal and the family happy. The worst part in this career, however, is the stress and sad situations. Dealing with the emotions that it is time for the animal to pass on is really hard and heartbreaking at the same time.
Zoologists study the behavior of animals in their natural surroundings or habitat. They mainly work in laboratories while conducting experiments on a certain animal. Based on the data and information they had gathered after observing the animal, they determine its health and well being. Other zoologists are working in zoos where they maintain and direct activities that an animal must properly go through. Watching the video, I learned animals have adapt on how to be successful in the environment they live in. Being an zoologist helps us understand the way animals survive in the wild and how important they are to the functioning of the ecosystem. This career can also discover about the animal kingdom.

micro skills

My Micro Skills results was very interesting to me because there were occupations that appealed to me while others I'm not really interested in. The reason why those occupations doesn't appeal to me is because I don't have the skills required in order to perform that career properly or those skills are my weaknesses. Also, the related majors/programs for those occupations are not my main focus right now, instead I am taking into a different route towards my goal.
One of the occupations of interest is an biologist. Since I love biology and its my favorite subject, I think this occupation suits me. Biologists study about the function, anatomy, development, and other basic principles of plants and animals life. They do research after they have gather enough information and then work in the laboratory to come to an conclusion of their studies. This career is mainly about life sciences and probably some mathematics/statistics skills. Anyone who is interested in science would be perfect or could even consider for this career. I know that I have to take and learn many of the life science courses in preparation on this type of field to be accomplished. That's why I think biology will most likely be my major and biology is considered a good major to take in future preparation for medical, dental, pharmacy, veterinary school, and medical technology programs.
The second occupation of interest is an animal trainer. Animal trainer teach animals to follow commands, compete in shows, perform for audiences. They also feed, exercise, and give extreme care to the animals they train. This career would be perfect for people who enjoys working with animals and loves interacting with them. I learned animal trainers work both outdoors and indoors, requires physical activities such as walking, running, stooping, and reaching, and make judgments about an animal's behavior. There are some risks/dangers involved such as being scratched, kicked, or bitten by animals. In order to be in this occupation, you need to have knowledge of the animal you are working with as part of the important skills required. People who are animal trainers today know the different ways of how the animal behaves through the study of animal biology along with animal psychology.
Overall, these two occupations mainly focus on the knowledge and skills in science. Like I said before, I love science and will maybe consider the two some time in the future.

true colors

After completing the true color assessment, my true color result was gold which I think best describes me. I wasn’t surprised that I was gold because most of the meaning of it is true. I do take responsibility of my work and try to fulfill my duties and obligations as soon as possible. When I do take responsibility, I always plan ahead of when I will do it and how long would it take me to finish. I time myself when I'm doing something because I need to figure out if I have time to do other important responsibilities to fulfill as well. I am very organized upon my work such as writing a to do list and checking off every item I finish. I am also loyal to my family and supporting them in any way I can. I try to make the right choice of any situation before I decide an answer because of my family. They have supported me and its my turn to support them in return.
I represent gold everyday in my life such as having good health. Another would be I am optimistic. I always hope success will come in all possible ways and should expect the best, or at least, a favorable outcome. Even if I don't get something that I want, there are other opportunities I can look forward to and from there I try to make the best of it. I always have the phrase “if at first you don't succeed, try try again” in my mind and I keep reminding myself of that phrase because it tells me to not give up on something that's important to me. However, there are times that this doesn't work out for me and I'd stop trying. So as a result, I just do what I do in my everyday life and wait until I get the opportunity to succeed again either in the present or future.
The third reason I represent gold is because I am wearing gold everyday. This promotes courage, willpower, and health. I have a gold earring and a gold necklace that I wear everyday of my life and I never took it off. My grandmother gave both to me when I was young as a memory of her and this symbolizes for me spiritual love and prosperity.
My two occupations of interest would be an optometrist or a veterinarian. Since I love science, I think my major would be science which best suits of being an optometrist and a veterinarian. To be in these two careers, I have to be really good in all the biological sciences (chemistry, biology, physics, anatomy) and that is what I'm trying to accomplish right now.

first day experience

My experiences are everybody in the class has a different set of goals and career that they would

like to explore more about. Some of them chose this career and lifestyles class because they want to

know what career they are best suited for, what it takes for them to gain that career, and other important

information about the career. There are various types of careers/jobs that people can chose from, but its

the skills, knowledge, and experience that the person has to determine if he/she is performs well or is

right for the career/job. When getting a job or having a job, it's all about time management and being

active throughout the day. Time management is an important aspect in a career/job and also in our

everyday lives. Some of the class are employed while others are not employed right now. Those who

are employed are working part-time or full-time.

What I would like to learn by taking this class is the many types of careers and which of those

careers am I best suited for. Following the steps to making a good career choice besides learning my

skills, interests, values, and personality. The benefits, advantages, disadvantages on each of the careers

and how it affects within our environment/surroundings.

What I would like to learn the most is the career of a doctor because that is what I want to be when I

grow up. I wanted to be a veterinarian but decided an eye doctor instead since veterinarian hospitals are

very low. I like to learn what kind of degree must be required and how many years will it take to earn

that degree. The kind of eye doctor I want to be would be just the eye examinations, not performing

any surgical procedures. I would like to know how much salary does an eye doctor earn per year as I

heard that this career is really easy and can earn a lot of money.

Overall, I like to learn of the many types of careers in the world today and how it is used both in the

industry and everyday life. How it can be achieved through the process of good career choice does take

time into our decision making. Each of the careers has a different role/procedure to carry out and I like

to observe them with my own eyes how he/she is portraying that career and how it affects their own

lifestyles. But, as I said before, I want to learn more about eye doctors such as the degree, how many

years earning that degree, what college/university would best suit into pursuing eye doctor, and salary.
